Biography:
Dr. Ciro Ramos-Estebanez is the chief of the Section of Neurocritical Care at UI Health. A physician-scientist, Dr. Ciro specializes in critical care neurology, noninvasive brain stimulation research, and MRI research. Dr. Ramos-Estebanez's is an innovator who has produced basic science and clinical manuscripts in a number of neurological journals. His research interests include vascular cognitive impairment (VCI), and he is a member of the multinational Vascular Impairment of Cognition Classification Consensus Study (VICCS). His research also focuses on noninvasive brain stimulation and behavioral neurophysiology, and he has developed a number novel technologies in this area.
In addition, he has developed a new MRI sequence that measures the cerebral metabolic rate and blood brain barrier permeability in-vivo. Dr. Ramos-Estebanez's other clinical research achievements have focused on neurocritical care and include novel diagnostic criteria for a neurocritical care condition, and a first description in the literature of a heroin complication in the central nervous system.
